Bumpdate: April-May
We’ve had a busy and productive week as we inch closer to baby girl’s arrival — officially 37 weeks today!
April 25
I had my weekly check-up with my OB, and everything is right on track — baby is doing great! I’m due for my TDAP vaccine soon, which is important since the baby won’t have protection without it. I also completed the GBS swab, a routine test for bacteria on the skin. If it's positive, antibiotics are given during labor to help prevent infection.
April 28
After dropping Kaius off, I popped into the grocery store and got completely sidetracked by all the adorable baby girl clothes — couldn’t resist! I’ve been having some mild Braxton Hicks contractions, but nothing too intense yet.
April 29
The nesting is in full swing! Today I packed the hospital bag for baby and organized everything into a diaper caddy to make it super easy to grab and go when the time comes.
April 30
My amazing mother-in-law came over today to help prep the baby’s room and tidy up the house. We washed baby clothes, organized the closet, and decorated her room with cute wall stickers — leaving the perfect space for her name sign. We also started clearing out kitchen space for bottles and baby gear. Oh, and big milestone: I’m officially 37 weeks! That means I can begin manually expressing milk to help with production once baby arrives.
We’re getting so close now — feeling excited, grateful, and a little bit in disbelief that we’re almost there!
May 1: Officially due this month! Only 20 days until the due date. My hospital bag is packed just incase.
May 2: Having my weekly check up with the OB today. Ill be seeing her weekly until the due date.
May 10: Baby girls room is almost ready! Furniture is moved in and clothes are in the dresser. I made sure to wash all the clothes with a gentle detergent like Ivory or Purex.
May 11: My last mother’s day with just Kaius, I had breakfast in bed and a beautiful card he made in school. We also spent time with my mom and my mother in law having brunch.
May 13: From my experience last time i found it super helpful to have a diaper caddy ready for each floor along with the bath caddy for the bathroom. Today I spent time getting these ready. For the diaper caddy I included the following: diapers, wipes, diaper cream, change of clothes, wash cloths and change mat. The bath caddy includes towels, gentle baby soap, cotton pads, wash cloths and a gentle brush for her hair.
May 18: I've been having Braxton-Hicks contractions which are contractions that are irregular in frequency, less intense and usually go away after some time. They are your body's way of getting ready for labor.
